About Us
Dawn Cotter-Jenkins is the principal owner of World Class Speech Services a speech consulting business which was established in 2000 and is located in Queens, NY. Ms Cotter-Jenkins is a New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist and her private practice specializes in accent modification and professional speech training. Ms. Cotter-Jenkins holds a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from New York University and holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She received her bachelor's degree in Linguistics with undergraduate study at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Ms. Cotter-Jenkins is certified in the Compton Pronunciation of English as a Second Language Program. She is also trained in American Sign Language and both German and French.
Ms. Cotter-Jenkins started her career teaching speech in New York City public and private schools. She has presented seminars and courses on communication skills at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Queensborough Community College and York College. Ms Cotter-Jenkins is a certified instructor of the Compton Pronunciation of English as a Second Language program.
She served on the executive board of the Corporate Speech Pathology Network (www.corspan.org) and is a certified member in good standing of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association and NY State Speech-Language and Hearing Association(www.NYSSLHA.org).

Her work is not only one of passion but also of personal triumph. Ms. Cotter-Jenkins grew up in Trinidad until she was school age and then emigrated to England. Upon her arrival in the United States from England as a young adult, she felt the limitations of communication barriers. Related experiences motivated her to modify her own speech style in order to move beyond this barrier and toward her dreams. What was her motivation is now her passion and competitive advantage.
Today, she uses innovative speech training methods to ensure a client's personal success. She is driven to find creative ways to recast conventional solutions that accommodate her clients lifestyles. Training techniques incorporate video taping, audiotapes, CD-ROM and web-based programs for speech improvement and accent modification. She was awarded the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce and Industry "2005 Business Visionary" Award and in April the 2006 Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
